Updated Information Regarding Blood Test

Earlier we presented AA as Arachidonic Acid (AA) Formation Efficiency but now we present it instead as Arachidonic Acid (AA) Index.

The earlier Arachidonic Acid (AA) Formation Efficiency is a value of how much LA has been converted to AA.

For example if you have 18 as a value on LA and 9 as a value on AA that would be AA/LA = 50%, but 50%  is not really relevant because those that have 24 on LA and 12 on AA and receive 50% also.

But an AA value of 9 is OK and an AA value of 12 is to high so the old page was misleading.

Finally, as” proof”, is that in the Omega 6:3 balance the AA value that is included in the calculation is AA/EPA.

The current value, Arachidonic Acid (AA) Index, shows the measured value of the Omega-6 fatty acid Arachidonic acid (AA) as a percentage of the total measured fatty acids.

Good averages range from 6.5 to 9.5% with an optimal target value of 8.3%
